Madera Youth Leaders
Empowering the next generation of community leaders in Madera
Madera Youth Leaders (MYL) is a community-based leadership group that gives local youth the tools, skills, and confidence to create real change. Supported by the Madera Coalition for Community Justice (MCCJ), MYL members meet twice a month to learn, plan, and lead on issues that matter most to them — from environmental justice and civic engagement to public health and drug use prevention.
What We Do
Leadership Training – Learn skills like public speaking, event planning, and advocacy.
Youth-Led Events – Plan and host community gatherings such as Earth Day in the Garden, the Drugs Are Spooky prevention event, and more.
Community Impact Projects – Create and lead campaigns that educate and inspire.
Field Trips & Hands-On Learning – Explore local government, environmental sites, and college campuses.
Substance Use Prevention – Learn the facts, develop refusal skills, and share healthy messages with peers.
Our Approach
MYL is a safe and supportive space where youth voices are valued. Through workshops, team-building activities, and real-world advocacy, members build connections, gain confidence, and take ownership of projects that impact the Madera community.
