MYL meetings are held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1125 N. Lake st. every Friday from 4:00-5:30 PM

Madera Youth Leaders is a group of teenagers and young adults between the ages of 12-22 years from Madera working toward positive change in their community. The purpose of MYL is to inspire and lead other youth in projects that give back to the community, to provide youth with the training, resources, knowledge, and experiences needed to educate the community and impact their own future and the future of Madera.

Zocalo Madera: First Friday Art Show.

The project seeks to establish a public art space in downtown Madera that will be spearhead by a cadre of youth guided by Madera Coalition for Community Justice. Zocalo Madera will be a sanctioned space in partnership with the City of Madera and the Madera Unified School District that will feature a wall displaying graffiti art that invites local street artists to contribute their artwork, show and tell, and provide a platform for other youth to learn and compete. This “public square” will be a part of the City’s revitalization of its downtown and an extension of the school district’s efforts to expand its service learning program to outdoor classrooms. While a major thrust of the project is to provide a hub, a gathering place, for youth, the overarching purpose is to provide a creative space to engage different groups and to be recognized by a wider public audience as a place that hosts educational and cultural events and a welcoming place that promotes public discourse and the exchange of ideas.
